Hi there, I’m Sara.
I’m a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC), and I hold a Master of Education in Counseling from Sul Ross State University. I also have a double-major in Psychology and Family & Child Sciences from Florida State University. Since 2012, I have been supporting individuals, children, and families through crisis intervention, trauma work, and therapy in both clinical and community settings.
I’m certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) through the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA), and I use a trauma-informed, client-centered approach that may also include CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and other modalities depending on your needs. I focus on connecting with who you are, not just the diagnosis.
I’ve been living and working in beautiful British Columbia since 2021. I’m originally from Miami, Florida and have lived in a number of U.S. states before settling here in Canada, which I now proudly call home. Outside of work, I love hiking, kayaking, yoga, the gym, and writing children’s books. I’m also the host of Invisible Cape Parenting, a podcast for single parents that launched in 2024.
You can reach me by phone 250-307-0321 or by email sara@thelifebalance.ca.

My name is Ellen Williams and I’m both a registered clinical counsellor in the province of BC and a registered psychotherapist in the province of Ontario. I studied counselling psychology at the University of Victoria and the University of British Columbia. More importantly, I’m a mother of two, and am well known for my love of rescuing and rehoming dogs.
I have worked as a professional counsellor since 2009 and have enjoyed many years working with people from all walks of life, including mothers and couples. My experience over the years has shaped me to be the type of counsellor that greatly values the client’s perspective and knowledge in their healing path. It’s amazing to me how one flourishes with some guidance and knowledge combined with a safe and open therapeutic relationship.
